Our 2024
2024 is almost in the books, and what a year it has been! From a transformative and equally challenging project that started with a brand new Magento2 platform where 4 online shops were migrated, to solid steps towards delivering a state of the art IOs and Android mobile app for one of our clients, the Clever++ team ticked off some impressive milestones. So, without further ado, let’s have a look at what kept our developers busy in 2024…

The OTTER Distribution Group Project
The OTTER DISTRIBUTION network means over 75 physical stores under four brands – Otter, Tezyo, Gryxx and Aldo. In the past, the company managed four Magento1 online shops for each brand – a highly inefficient setup because each shop required individual updates, security patches, and feature development, which increased costs and the risk of inconsistencies.
The project was split into 6 sprints, and it was one of the most complex assignments contracted by our agency so far. Not only because there was an extensive list of functionalities – with stock having to be synced in real time between online shops, physical stores and the Warehouse Management System – but also because of a tight agreed launch schedule.
The first stages of the project focused on migrating all data to a recent Magento version, to make use of the platform’s improved performance, scalability, and security features. Additionally, our developers worked on installing and configuring various requested modules to enhance the platform’s capabilities.
An advanced Elasticsearch solution was installed and configured to give the native search function an extra layer of complexity by increasing speed and the ability to find more relevant search results.
Our backend development team also worked on building various functionalities like hiding the categories if products are out of stock, showing sub-categories under parent categories and enabling a slider featuring products from that sub-category.
The first phases of the project also saw our Front-end team working on creating a custom Magento2 theme based on the design provided by the client.
As the project evolved, our team worked on a complex Flash Sale feature, which creates a sense of urgency by blocking products until the countdown reaches 0:00:00 and the SALE starts.
Five advanced tools were integrated to enhance Otter’s Marketing, Analytics and customer service capabilities: Nosto, Klavyio, Mailgun, ZenDesk, and Reviews.io.
In addition, we integrated Plytix PIM, an AI-powered platform designed to automatically generate tailored product descriptions based on best-practices available for each sales channel.
The project underwent extensive testing to uncover and resolve bugs, address compatibility concerns, and optimize performance.
Cupio
Another year having Cupio as our esteemed client and as usual, our team spent many hours ensuring that the platform runs at its best.
And it’s no wonder, because with various complex integrations like an external ERP system which handles both online and offline sales, a complex search function and an AI-driven integration for delivering personalized product recommendations, Cupio’s online shop has evolved into one of the most robust and sophisticated eCommerce platforms in Romanian eCommerce.
In fact, the website was awarded Best Online Shop in the Health & Beauty section during GPeC, one of the most prestigious eCommerce events in Eastern Europe.
And, as the work never stops, this year’s Black Friday was one of the busiest ever for Cupio.ro, and we’re proud to say our team delivered at full capacity.
To ensure the website remained stable during the surge in visitor traffic, we implemented our custom Magento extension that generates a static HTML page. This time, we gave it a fresh, modern design.
As the store prepares for a busy Festive Season, our team is on hand to make sure that the online experience remains smooth and consistent, just as Cupio customers expect.
The Cupio Mobile App
2024 was pretty intense for our mobile app development team, who has been working on a native Cupio app for iOS and Android. With mobiles becoming one of the main sales channels for Cupio, reaching numbers in their hundreds per day, the app has to perform incredibly well. Additionally, because it will have to serve both B2B and B2C markets, the app has many integrations, including an external ERP which handles orders from both online and physical stores.
Beyond the usual functionalities, the Cupio app will include an advanced search feature and will be able to deliver fast push notifications to keep users updated on product details and order statuses. Aligned with Cupio’s strategy to expand cross-border, the app will also support multi-language capabilities to ensure a seamless experience for international customers.
Super Farm Land
Here we are marking another year of fruitful collaboration with our long-time client. We’ve bagged 6 so far, and we are happy to see that the company is doing better and better every year.
Since taking the decision to diversify their portfolio and include items for individual clients, the company has come to sell a few thousands of high quality products for animal husbandry and agriculture, addressed to both the B2B and B2C market.
Our team was fully involved in the maintenance of the online store that offers an experience which is unique to each user. The Magneto 2 platform was always kept updated to recent versions to ensure security and an improved speed and performance.
Apart from this, throughout the year, our frontend developers were involved in several tasks that prepared the shop for the major sales events – Easter, the Black Friday sale and the end of the year Festive Season. We designed eye-catching banners for both the landing and promotion pages, ensuring they captured the essence of each campaign. These banners were seamlessly implemented across the website, and we made sure the online shop looked great and functioned perfectly on any device – be it a smartphone, tablet, or desktop.
Super Farm Land needed a dedicated page to run their promotions and, as usual, the Clever++ team implemented their well-proven solution – a custom Magento module which generates static, highly optimized and compressed HTML pages to manage increased traffic better.
